October Fun

Fall 2004 015Well, it’s officially fall, and that means my annual book signing at the Granville Harvest Fair is right around the corner on Columbus Day weekend. If you’ve never been and you live in New England, you won’t want to miss it. The glorious fall foliage and the crisp autumn air make it the perfect time to visit this idyllic little town and see all it has to offer.

Granville, MA. is located at the junction just north of Granby, CT, on Rt. 189, and west of Springfield and Southwick, MA. on Rt. 57. It’s easy to find, and is the epitome of country fairs, with hundreds of vendors, face painting for the kids, and don’t forget the amazing assortment of yummy foods. I can’t wait for my piece of homemade apple pie with a slice of Granville Country Store’s famous cheddar cheese on top. Granville Country storeYou’ll want to visit the Noble & Cooley Drum Shop Museum. Built in 1854,  this well preserved factory is  still making drums for today’s musicians and is the site of the Center for Historic Preservation. The 1802 Meeting House will have a beautiful quilt display, vintage tractors and a scarecrow contest for kids of all ages to enjoy. I’ll be down the bottom of the hill next to the library signing books and giving away a few freebies. Here are the particulars:

Saturday, October 10th from 10-5

Sunday, October 11th from 12-5

and Monday, October 12th from 10-5

I hope you’ll stop by and say hello!

In other autumn news, I’ve finished the first draft of OVERCOME your SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE and completed the photo shoot…yayyy! I’ll be sending it off to beta readers (first readers who will give me feedback on changes needed), and I’m beginning to set up my blog tour, book signings, and advertising. The months before a book launch are insanely busy, but I’m so excited about this project. Every step that brings me closer to the January 12th release date is one step closer to being able to share all my health care tips and secrets with readers.

For those of you waiting patiently for this book, it will be available for preorder in November!PJSharon_OvercomeYourSedentaryLifestyle_eCover_800[1]Here’s the back cover blurb:

Is a sedentary lifestyle killing you? Are you gaining weight, developing neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, back problems, or other health issues that are interfering with your ability to achieve your goals or live life to the fullest?

Sedentary Lifestyle Syndrome (SLS) ™ is one of the fastest growing health care crises of our time. In this digital age of techno-overload, where most of our waking hours are spent sitting, or otherwise “connected” to some device, we are quickly realizing the negative effects. If you can answer yes to the following questions, you may be suffering from SLS.

  • Do you sit for at least 4-6 hours per day?
  • Have you gained significant weight from lack of exercise and poor nutrition?
  • Do you suffer from headaches, fatigue, listlessness, and lack of motivation?
  • Have you been diagnosed with one or more health issues aggravated by prolonged sitting and lack of movement? (ie: Obesity, depression, heart disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome)

Overcome Your Sedentary Lifestyle is the practical guide you need. Author and Holistic Health Care professional, PJ Sharon, includes tips to keep you healthy—even if sitting is in your job description. Ms. Sharon offers easy to implement solutions for proper work station set-up, exercises for injury prevention and treatment, and a practical plan for self-care success—whether you’re perched on the couch, or on the way to fulfilling your dreams.

Isn’t it time for you to stand up for your life?

Don’t you just love that tagline? One of my FB pals, Kim Gorman, came up with it. Thanks Kim!

You might also notice a couple of new pages added to my website. Check out the Glass Slipper Sisters Event page for a fun giveaway coming up and details on the Stroke of Midnight Royal Ball we’re planning for New Year’s Eve. I’ll have more news on that next month and a way for you to enter the drawing for our Pamper Yourself Like a Princess Gift Pack. If you’re a blogger and want to get in on the fun, feel free to jump in and fill out this form to participate.

Also new to my site is my Healthy Teen Tips page with several blog posts on teen health issues I’ve written over the years. Everything from how to deal with back to school nerves, to teens and depression. Scroll through and I think you’ll find some interesting, helpful, and entertaining posts that might be just what you’re looking for.

And watch for PJ’s Pantry page coming soon, where I’ll list all the healthy–and not as healthy as you think–items I keep in my pantry, fridge, and freezer. It was an eye-opener for me when I began researching some of my favorite health foods! I wanted to share what I found with readers of my book, but decided to offer the info here on my website instead, so everyone could benefit from my findings. I’ll have that page up and running in the next few weeks, including some yummy smoothie recipes I adore!

So that’s it for this month. What do you all have coming up? Any exciting trips planned? School events? Concerts? Book releases? Feel free to share…you know I love hearing from readers.

Blessings,

PJ
